DetermiNext collects only what's needed for IEP transition planning — nothing more. Here is exactly what that means in practice.
Every field we store exists to serve the student's IEP. If it doesn't belong in a transition plan, it doesn't belong in our database.
Students never create accounts or provide personal contact information. Every access point is created and controlled by the teacher.
Teacher creates a launch
Generates a unique username and one-time access code scoped to that student only.
Student enters username + code
No email, password, or account of any kind. Access is strictly credential-based and teacher-issued.
No cross-student visibility
A student can only see their own assessment and their own report — nothing belonging to another student.
Teacher revokes or closes access instantly
Access can be removed at any time. Reopen and reassess both require deliberate teacher action.
DetermiNext operates as a school official under FERPA, not as an independent data controller. Schools retain full ownership and deletion rights.
We operate as a "school official with a legitimate educational interest" under 34 CFR § 99.31(a)(1). Student records remain under your school's FERPA jurisdiction.
Active data is retained while your account is live. Student data is deleted within 90 days of account closure. Teachers can remove individual students at any time.
A Data Processing Agreement is available for schools and districts that require a formal vendor data agreement. Download or request a signed copy.
