Student data belongs to the
teacher and the student.
No one else.

DetermiNext collects only what's needed for IEP transition planning — nothing more. Here is exactly what that means in practice.

FERPA-aligned
IDEA Indicator 13
No Student Accounts
No Data Selling

We collect the minimum needed
for IEP transition planning.

Every field we store exists to serve the student's IEP. If it doesn't belong in a transition plan, it doesn't belong in our database.

What we collect

  • Student first and last name — for report labeling only
  • Class standing: freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Assessment responses across the PINS domains
  • Selected career interest(s) at assessment completion
  • School year and section for teacher roster management

What we never collect

  • Student email address or phone number
  • Date of birth or Social Security Number
  • Health records, diagnoses, or disability classifications
  • Photos, biometrics, or location data
  • Behavioral records or disciplinary history

No student accounts.
No passwords. No risk.

Students never create accounts or provide personal contact information. Every access point is created and controlled by the teacher.

Teacher creates a launch

Generates a unique username and one-time access code scoped to that student only.

Student enters username + code

No email, password, or account of any kind. Access is strictly credential-based and teacher-issued.

No cross-student visibility

A student can only see their own assessment and their own report — nothing belonging to another student.

Teacher revokes or closes access instantly

Access can be removed at any time. Reopen and reassess both require deliberate teacher action.

Your school owns the data.
We just process it.

DetermiNext operates as a school official under FERPA, not as an independent data controller. Schools retain full ownership and deletion rights.

📋

FERPA designation

We operate as a "school official with a legitimate educational interest" under 34 CFR § 99.31(a)(1). Student records remain under your school's FERPA jurisdiction.
